This dance called “tinku” was born the same year Bolivia became a Republic in 1825. The villagers or Ayllus of Laimes, Jucumanis, Chayantas, Qaqachacas, Sicoyas, Curtas did not like the way their land was partitioned therefore they decided to fight it out. Since 1825, these Northen Potosi villagers square off their dispute. Also this tradition pays homage to Pachamama literally Mother earth for better crops.
