Eternal thanks to the entire Whitley family for recently unearthing this gem from their family archives. They have given me their expressed permission to post this entire concert to share with my fellow Keith Whitley fans here on YouTube.’ You can join the Keith Whitley Association Facebook group at: groups.to …and on Yahoo at: groups.yahoo.com The annual Reunion of Professional Entertainers (ROPE) is held in Nashville, Tennessee to recognize and honor classic country artists, country musicians, and country music industry executives for their lifetime achievements. Awards are given in the following categories: Entertainer of the Year, Musician of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and the special presentation of the Mac Wiseman Nightingale Award for service and dedication to the aging and ailing members of the organization, among others. The 1988 awards show featured Keith Whitley and his band Miami as the featured entertainment for the evening. He was introduced to the stage by Grand Ole Opry presenter Keith Bilbrey. (It is interesting to note that, at the 2004 awards show, Keith’s widow Lorrie Morgan was featured as the entertainment along with her then-husband Sammy Kershaw.) It’s crazy; that Tele was the same one he’d used for years: He sold it to a guy, who proceeded to paint it blue, change the pickups and tuners, and when Keith saw it, he went crazy and said he’d pay anything or trade any guitar for it. The original pickups were put back into the guitar, and the tuners were used to make a lamp.
If there is any one voice that can represent country music, this is it.
Keith was a treasure …..love this …. thank you for sharing it!!!!
@BrennanBarrier Thank you so much for the kind words! And many thanks for supporting Keith.
thanks so much MAMsMom97!!! You always have the BEST KW footage!
The scrolling bar has no effect on the music which is the main purpose for playing this video. If it bothers you that much, don’t look at the video, just listen to the music.
I don’t appreciate being called a liar.
i do not believe his brother asked for the video to be ruined for people watching you have put the scrolling bar on to advertise the item on f/b
vaultcracker i have to agree it does spoil a great video
What’s even more annoying is when someone steals my video and claims it as theirs. This was done by request from Dwight Whitley, Keith’s brother, who asked me to upload the videos. If you have a problem with it, call him, or you can keep the video up on one tab and go do something else in another tab.
take down that horrible scrolling tab. It’s very annoying,
Great song, great vid otherwise.

We have a Yahoo! group that has been in existence for almost a year now. You just go to the website that shows on the video, or go to my channel for the link. We also branched out recently to Facebook, as well, if you do Facebook. You just key in the words Keith Whitley Association into the white box with the magnifying glass icon at the top right hand corner of the screen. It should be the first thing that comes up in the search. Whichever one you join, make sure you tell us you’re RebelGibson!
Thank you, Shay, for stopping by. The plan is to have all 8 uploaded by before the weekend of the 25th so that I can upload a performance by Jesse, Keith’s son, at last year’s memorial motorcycle ride they have for his dad & uncle in time for this year’s ride. I really want to do the ride this year. I’ve never taken part in it before.
